Kwara awards renovation of indoor sports hall for 922.8m

Kwara State government has awarded the renovation of the Indoor sports hall, stadium complex to Metro Fittings and Accessories Nigeria Limited for a contract sum of N925.8million.
Commissioner for Information and Communication in the state, Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin.
The renovation of the sports hall is to be completed in nine months.
He noted that Kwara State Stadium which was built in 1976 is the only one in the country that houses 26 sports, thus a need to upscale the facility in order to promote sporting activities in the state.
Meanwhile, Kwara chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has hailed the state government's award of the renovation of the sporting edifice.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman Alhaji Abdulwaheed Bibire and the Secretary, Olayinka Owolewa.Ilorin.
The statement described Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed's resolve to renovate the dilapidated indoor sports hall as another step toward sports development in the state and Nigeria at large.
The SWAN hoped that the step would help in returning the state to its glorious days in sporting events as the sports hall would attract both local and international competitions.
