The coordinator of Bright Future Cycling Club, Ibadan, Mr Kolapo Aminu has expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team at the recently-ended 1st Ibadan National Cycling championship.
Innocent Emmanuel of Sharks Racing Club, Port Harcourt won the 100km race ahead of Eyo Effiok and Sodiq Ajibade both of CC 12 of Lagos.
Popoola Dolapo of Bright Future Cycling Club, Ibadan won the bronze in the girls category when she returned in a time of one hour, 15:27 seconds in a race won by Tawa Yekini of Oyo State who returned in a time of one hour, 34:00 seconds as Alice Miebaka from Rivers State
finished in a time of 1 hr, 13:30 seconds to claim the silver medal.
"We are happy at the progress of our wards, they are taking part in tournaments for exposure so that in the nearest future, they would be the cyclists to beat. We don't make winning a top priority and we are consciously building in our cyclists the spirit of sportsmanship.
"So, our wards did their best and we are hoping that they would raise the name of BFCC in the 2017 National Youth Sports Festival. We try to measure the performance of every cyclist in our own way using certain indices because not every athlete will win a medal in a race, but when
we are reviewing their performances, we will be able to discover some improvements and where we did not, we let the cyclists know this and make him or her to improve," Kolapo said.
