Man Utd not impressive under Ten Hag, says Paul Scholes

Manchester United icon, Paul Scholes, says the Red Devils are going backwards under head coach Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United were humbled at home to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, losing 0-3 and cementing their place in the bottom half of the table. It has led to speculation about Ten Hag's position as head coach and former midfielder Scholes says the Red Devils look "poorly coached" and appear to be a team who are going backwards.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Scholes said: "You don't see where the next good performance or win is coming from. I don't think the players even understand what the manager wants from them. They look like a poorly coached-team. It's difficult to watch. It's two-and-a-bit years now and I feel like there's no progression when teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal, are progressing all the time.

"With United, it feels like the opposite - it feels like we're regressing. We're going the wrong way as results would suggest. All fans want is a bit of direction but there's a lack of hope. The team look so far off being anywhere near competitive."

Ten Hag bought himself some more time in the dugout after winning the FA Cup in May, but he has been under the watchful eye of Sir Jim Ratcliffe for months now. With hundreds of millions spent in the transfer window, Manchester United have not shown anywhere near enough progress under the former Ajax boss.
