Globacom Premier League: Heartland secures second away win

HEARTLAND FC of Owerri, on Sunday stunned Kwara United before its teeming fans in Ilorin, with a convincing 3-1 win in a Week four Globacom Premier League clash.

The Afonja Warriors took the lead in the ninth minute through Ahmed Jimoh who finished off a rebound after an initial save by goalkeeper David Obiozor.

Ilorin fans were still basking in the euphoria of the goal when former ABS FC striker Mohammed Mohammed gave the visitors an equaliser three minutes later.

Mohammed did not last in the game as he was injured while jimoh Oni came on to replace him.

Substitute Oni put the Naze Millionaires handled by Erasmus Onuh ahead in the 20th
minute as the Tunde Abdurahman-piloted Kwara United threw everything into the game to prevent a home loss which however failed.

The woes of the homers were compounded by Bright Ejike in the 29th minute with a header which turned out to be the last goal of the day, as both sides fired blank while the remaining 61 minutes lasted.

Heartland which moves to the top of the table with nine points it will be recalled, defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in week two at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan 2-1.

Fans of Rangers too left the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, in sad mood as visiting FC Giwa of Jos ran away with a lone goal victory courtesy of Shaibu Ibrahim's 50th minute strike.

Coach Ladan Bosso had a bitter pill to swallow as Abia Warriors right at their Umuahia backyard lost 1-2 to visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.

Meanwhile, Ejike is leading the top scorers’ chart with three goals so far.

He had scored a brace in Heartland's 5-2 win over Nasarawa United in a Week three game before Sunday's goal in Ilorin.
