Globacom Premier League update: Gbolahan Salami returns to Ibadan
NIGERIA Premier League joint leading scorer with six goals, Gbolahan Salami will tomorrow (Wednesday) return to Ibadan this time to lead Warri Wolves to the Week 14 clash against Crown FC of Ogbomoso billed for the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
Fondly referred to as Balotelli of Nigerian football, Salami, who last played for relegated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan is in high spirits for the game, hoping to increase his goal tally at the expense of their hosts, Crown FC handled by veteran coach, Lawrence Akpokona
The former Enyimba striker is tied on the goals chart with Adamu Mohammed of Gombe United and
the former too will be aspiring to increase his goal haul on Wednesday at home when his team takes on Sunshine Stars of Akure in another Week 14 Globacom Premier League fixture.
"One unique thing about this match is that it is holding in Ibadan. I'm happy going back to Ibadan to play before my fans. In fact, Ibadan is my home so I can't afford to wait longer for this game. I have really missed my fans in Ibadan and I know they too will be willing to see me play.
"This season has been going on well for me despite that I started playing in Week five I pray that I will have something to show at the end of the match against Crown to prove that I am still the player they know. I am in top form and we are looking forward to having a good result in Ibadan," Salami.
The former Sunshine Stars forward has been in a devastating form since he landed in Warri this season, after his glorious performance at the third African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in South Africa where the home-based Super Eagles finished with a bronze medal with the lethal weapon claiming Nigeria's only goal in the 1-2 loss to Mali in the opening group game.
Salami it will be recalled scored Warri Wolves' only goal last Sunday against Heartland FC in their last Week 13 game.

Nigerian athletes set for Akure Golden League
ATHLETES from all parts of Nigeria are set to clash at the third leg of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Golden League scheduled to hold this weekend at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.
Technical officer of AFN, Yusuf Alli, in an interview expects improved performances from the athletes from the previous outings in Abuja and Ilorin respectively.
The two-time Olympian said that logistics are in place to make the event a memorable one just as the national record holder in the men’s long jump noted that the athletes are in high spirits for the Golden League.
It will be recalled that junior athletes took over the podium at the second leg of the event in Ilorin as the likes of Divine Odududru, Ese Brume, and Akerele Omeza won their respective events.
Oduduru won the 200m ahead of Odele Tega and Briggs Tamunotonye respectively.
Brume also impressed in the long jump as she beat her senior counterpart, Chinazom Amadi to second place with a leap of 6.40m.
However the battle for the N2million prize money will go a notch higher, following the absence of some of the elite athletes who are currently in the United States ahead of the IAAF World Relays slated to hold in Bahamas later this month.
The fourth leg of the Golden League is slated to hold in Kaduna on May 24.
