Why I signed for Enyimba---Sani Kaita
Out-of-favour Nigerian international Sani Kaita has said that he returned to
domestic football to join Enyimba because of his commitment to the game.
Kaita, who won the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) bronze signed a three-month loan stint with the People's Elephant which he believes would give his career a new lease of life.
"I signed for Enyimba because I want to focus only on football. I don't want anything to distract me. Of all of the offers I received, I preferred Enyimba because of their pedigree on the continent having won the Champions League twice. This is the best place for me to come and I believe this will give my career a boost. I want to continue to play football and this is why I opted for home return to join the best team in the country," said Kaita who began his foreign adventure in 2005 with Sparta Rotterdam.
The former Kano Pillars midfielder who was unceremoniously sent off during the 2010 World Cup group game against Greece also accounted for his exit from his Ukrainian club, Tavriya Simferopol.
"I still had two-and-a-half years left of my contract with Tavriya, but I cancelled the contract
because my leg was worse than I got there. I signed for Enyimba as a free agent and it is not about money but about football. It is like investment, When you make a sacrifice for something today, you never know what will happen tomorrow and I am looking forward to having a fulfilled stay in Enyimba," he said.
Kaita's last appearance for Nigeria was at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where he bagged a
straight red card for resorting to 'kung-fu' stamp on Greek player in a contest for ball possession, while the Super Eagles despite their early lead eventually lost the match 1-2 to Greece.

Yobo out of Liverpool game
JOSEPH Yobo will not be on duty on Sunday when his team Norwich City play host to the English Premier League current leaders, Liverpool at Carrow Road.
According to The Canaries’ manager, Neil Adams, Yobo who is struggling to earn a call up back to the Super Eagles ahead of the World Cup in Brazil is nursing a calf injury and thus needs some rest hence; his exclusion from the clash with the Redds.“Joseph (Yobo) will be out for another week at least. He has had a scan on his calf and it will be a week or maybe two weeks, we don’t know.
“The sooner the better he is back, but he had the scan two or three days ago and he’s one we’ve got to manage,” Adams said.
Norwich with 32 points on the table need outright win to stay clear of the relegation zone while a win by Liverpool on Sunday will further brighten their chances of winning the EPL title for the first time.
The Redds last won the league title in 1989-90 season before the advent of the Premier League in 1992.

Enyimba suspend Baraje
VETERAN coach Zachary Baraje has been suspended by Enyimba FC alongside his assistant, Monday Odigie.
The decision came on the heels of the two consecutive defeats the People's Elephant suffered in the Globacom Premier League in one week.
Enyimba first lost 0-1 lto city rivals, Abia Warriors at home and also lost by the same margin to FC Taraba last Sunday in Jalingo in a week five game.
Baraje who once handled Shooting Stars Sports club, Niger Tornadoes, Gombe United took over the Aba side as head coach last December from El-Kanemi Warriors.
His woes began with the exit of Enyimba from this year's CAF Champions League. Enyimba lost 1-2 in Aba to As Real Bamako of Mali while they won the return leg tie 1-0 but the scoreline was not good enough to see the Nigerian side through as they crashed out on away goal rule.
Though, no official statement from Enyimba yet on the suspension of the duo, a source said the decision is as good as sealed.
"Coaches Baraje and Monday Odigie won't be part of the technical crew in our next match. They have been suspended indefinitely. Before the game against Taraba, the management had issued them an ultimatum to win or face the consequence and that is just it," owned up the source.
Already, one of the assistant coaches, Imama Amapakabo has taken over the People's Elephant and
will be fully in charge in Wednesday's rescheduled league game in Warri against Warri Wolves,
Enyimba occupy the 14th position on the table with four points from four games.

Globacom Premier League: Gbolahan Salami's brace sinks Giwa
BALOTELLI of Nigerian football, Gbolahan Salami on Sunday scored twice at the Warri City Stadium to give Warri Wolves a 2-0 win over Giwa FC of Jos in a week five Globacom Premier League game.
It was Salami's first game of the season with the Seasiders after he crossed over from the relegated premier league side, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.
Salami, a member of the Super Eagles who won the bronze at the third African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) in South Africa, had his movement to Wolves delayed for reasons not yet ascertained before his debut today which he marked with a brace.
The former Enyimba striker scored in the 43rd minute to put the Seasiders ahead while he was also on song barely two minutes into the second half to hand the visitors their first away defeat of the season.
Goalkeeper Terkaa Melai was the hero of the game at the Emmanuel Akume Atongo Stadium, Katsina-
Ala when he converted an 89th minute penalty kick to give Lobi Stars a 1-0 victory over Kaduna United.
It was Melai's second goal of the season.
League leaders, Akwa United maintained their position on the table following their 2-0 win over Nembe City in another week five fixture at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Ukeme Davies put the homers ahead in the 12th while Ubong Ekpai who assisted in the curtain raiser put his name on the scorer's sheet in the 20th minute.
FC Taraba compounded the woes of Enyimba who last lost 0-1 at home to Abia Warriors in a derby as they
handed down a 1-0 defeat to the Aba side at the Jalingo City Stadium.
The coach Zachary Baraje-piloted side succumbed to a 19th minute goal from Bobby Abel leaving
the veteran soccer tactician in a sorrow after the final whistle.
Bayelsa United were forced to share points with El-Kanemi Warriors as the game decided at the Sapele Township Stadium, Delta State ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ebitimi Agogo put the Yenagoa-based side ahead in the 36th minute before Ndubuisi Ekwurube later

Nembe City return to Globacom Premier League with Akwa Utd
PROVISIONALLY-Cleared Nembe City will on Sunday play their first game of the season in the 2013/14
Globacom Premier League with an away fixture against Akwa United at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The Bayelsa State side will now have their previous four games rescheduled by the League Management Company (LMC) in due course.
Coach of Nembe City Gabriel Samuel Umunna is confident that his wards are psychologically ready for
the week five clash with current league leaders, Akwa United coached by ex-international goalkeeper Patrick Udoh.
"We are mentally, physically and psychologically ready for Akwa United. This is a trying period for us but we have what it takes to weather the storm. Everybody knows what our players are passing through but we are prepared for the challenges ahead. Thank god that we have been cleared to play at last by LMC.
"Akwa United are doing well at the moment but we are going to Uyo to grab the three points at stake. We have to start on a good note in order to appreciate our fans who are solidly behind us. We are going to make a statement this season despite the situation we have passed through," Umunna opined.
It will be recalled that LMC had initially exiled both Nembe City and Giwa Fc for their failure to meet minimum registration requirements before they eventually got reprieve.
Giwa FC first pardoned by LMC defeated Rangers Fc on Wednesday in Jos in their first game of the
season at the time Nembe City were yet to meet the conditions spelt out by the Nduka Irabor-led LMC.

Giwa open Glo Premier League campaign with victory over Rangers
NEWLY-Promoted Giwa FC of Jos today eventually made their debut in the Globacom Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Rangers of Enugu in a rescheduled Week Four game played at Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos
Giwa FC had initially been exiled by the League Management Company (LMC) alongside Nembe City for failure to meet the minimum registration requirements before it got conditional clearance from the body headed by Honourable Nduka Irabor.
However, as of the time of filing this report, it is not certain whether Nembe City met the 5pm deadline given to them by LMC that will enable the team from Bayelsa State to make their debut too this week in a week five game against Akwa United billed for the Uyo Township Stadium.
The match hero in Jos turned out to be Edoh Ocheme who scored in the 35th minute of the game to give GIwa three maximum points.
Meanwhile, Globacom Premier League defending Champions, Kano Pillars also today recorded their first win of the season after they hammered Warri Wolves 2-0 at the Kano Pillars Stadium.
Wolves who last Sunday crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup after losing 1-2 to CA Bizertin of Tunisia on return to the country flew straight to Kano for the rescheduled week four game which however, failed to yield any point for them.
Pillars captain and goalkeeper, Theophilus Afelokhai converted the penalty kick awarded to his team in the 36th minute while third African Nations Championship (CHAN 2014) hero. Rabiu Alli in the second half made it two also through the spot.
